Ingredients

- 1 eggplant
- 2-3 potatoes
- 2 onions
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1-2 chilies (to taste)
- 400 g ground meat
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for frying
- (Optional: cheese for topping)

Instructions

1. Peel and slice the eggplant, potatoes, and onions. Mince the garlic and chop the chilies.
2. Heat olive oil in a pan, add the onions, garlic, and chilies. Sauté until the onions are soft.
3. Add the ground meat to the pan and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
5. Grease a baking dish with olive oil and layer the eggplant, potatoes, and meat mixture.
6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used. If desired, sprinkle cheese between the layers or on top.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30-40 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
8. Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving.
