Ingredients:
- 400 g beef (e.g., roast)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 3 dl red wine
- 2 dl beef broth
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 500 g potatoes
- 100 g butter (for mashing potatoes)
- 1 dl milk (for mashing potatoes)
Instructions:
1. Cut the beef into cubes and season with salt and pepper.
2. Heat the butter in a large skillet and brown the beef cubes until golden.
3. Add the chopped onion and crushed garlic, and sauté briefly.
4. Sprinkle the flour over the meat and mix well.
5. Pour in the red wine and beef broth, and stir. Let it simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
6. Stir in the chopped rosemary and thyme, and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
7. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash them with the butter and milk.
8. Serve the beef stew alongside the mashed potatoes.
