A delicious Finnish salmon casserole inspired by Greta Garbo. Perfect for a comforting meal.
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 3 onions
- 1 kg good potatoes
- 4 dl cream (or half milk)
- 750 g skinless salmon fillet
- Salt
- White pepper
- A pinch of sugar
- Generous amount of dill, chopped
- 1 leek
- Butter
Instructions:
1. Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Slice them thinly.
2. Chop the onions and the white part of the leek. Sauté them lightly in butter until soft.
3. Cut the salmon fillet into slices.
4. Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer the bottom with a layer of potatoes, followed by sautéed onions and leeks, and then the salmon slices.
5. Season each layer with salt, white pepper, and sugar. Sprinkle chopped dill on top.
6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
7. Pour the cream (or milk) over the dish, ensuring it covers the ingredients.
8. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 50-60 minutes, until the top is beautifully golden brown and the casserole is cooked through.
9. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
