Leek-Tori - Grilled Leeks in Teriyaki Sauce

A delicious grilled leek side dish seasoned with teriyaki sauce, perfect for steaks and summer barbecues. Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
- Leeks
- Salt
- Oil for grilling
- Skewers (bamboo or metal)
- Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1 dl water
- 1 dl sugar
- 2 tbsp sake
- 1 dl soy sauce
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a quick boil and dissolve the sugar.
2. Add the sake and soy sauce, then simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
3. Cut the leeks into 10-15 cm long pieces.
4. Grill the leeks briefly, then move them to the upper grill rack to cook through at about 250 degrees Celsius, with the lid closed.
5. Transfer the cooked leeks to a cutting board and let them cool slightly. Cut them into 2-3 cm thick diagonal slices.
6. Carefully skewer the leek slices onto bamboo or metal skewers and sprinkle with a little salt.
7. Place the skewers on a foil-lined tray and drizzle the teriyaki sauce evenly over the leeks.
8. Grill the leeks, turning occasionally, until the sugar caramelizes on the surface.
9. Serve the skewers on top of grilled steak, accompanied by a fresh salad.
