A delicious Finnish pastry traditionally served with whipped cream and jam. Perfect for celebrating Shrove Tuesday.
Preparation Time: 2 hours (including dough rising)

Ingredients

- 1 batch of sweet bun dough (recipe below)
- Whipped cream
- Raspberry or strawberry jam

Sweet Bun Dough Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 1.8 oz fresh yeast
- 0.4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 0.4 cup melted butter
- About 10 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. Prepare the bun dough: Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, and melted butter. Mix well.
3. Gradually add flour until the dough is elastic and pulls away from the bowl edges.
4. Let the dough rise under a cloth in a warm place for about 1 hour.
5. Divide the dough into 8 pieces and shape them into buns. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6. Allow the buns to rise again for about 30 minutes.
7. Bake the buns at 392°F (200°C) for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
8. Cool the buns.
9. Whip the cream and slice the cooled buns in half.
10. Fill the buns with whipped cream and jam. Enjoy!
