Ingredients:
- 150 g butter or margarine
- 2.5 dl sugar
- 4 eggs
- 5 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 dl milk
- 200 g cherries (fresh or frozen)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a cake pan.
2. Melt the butter or margarine in a saucepan and let it cool slightly.
3. In a bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
4. Add the melted butter to the mixture and stir well.
5. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder. Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly.
6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
7. Gently fold in the cherries into the batter.
8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and level the top.
9. Bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
10. Allow the cake to cool before serving. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or garnish with cherries.
