A delicious savory cake perfect for parties or as a meal. Made with lactose-free ingredients and featuring two filling layers. Preparation Time: 1 hour + 12 hours in the fridge
Serving Size: 8-10 servings
Ingredients:
- 9 slices Oululainen Reilu Whole Grain Bread - Ham Filling:
- 200 g smoked ham
- 1 tbsp lactose-free sour cream
- 2/3 cup (200 g) Valio Viola herb cream cheese
- ½ cup lactose-free mayonnaise
- 1½ cups diced pickles
- pinch of black pepper
- Moistening:
- vegetable broth
- Frosting:
- 1 cup (200 g) Valio Viola herb cream cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- Garnish:
- lettuce
- thin slices of ham
- cucumber
- cherry tomatoes
- cheese
Instructions:
1. Prepare the ham filling: finely chop the smoked ham and place it in a bowl. Add lactose-free sour cream, herb cream cheese, mayonnaise, pickles, and black pepper. Mix until smooth. 2. Trim the crusts off the bread slices. Lay the first layer of bread on a serving platter.
3. Moisten the bottom layer of bread with vegetable broth and spread half of the ham filling over it.
4. Add another layer of bread, moisten it, and spread the remaining ham filling on top.
5. Place one more layer of bread on top and moisten it.
6. Wrap the cake in cling film and let the flavors meld in the fridge overnight.
7. Whip the sour cream and herb cream cheese together until fluffy, about 5 minutes.
8. Spread the frosting over the top and sides of the cake. Garnish with lettuce, ham slices, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and cheese.
