Ingredients:
- 250 g butter
- 2 dl sugar
- 1 dl syrup
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 dl cream
- 1 kg all-purpose flour
For Decoration:
- Powdered sugar
- Water
- Candies
- Nuts
- Chocolate
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the sugar, syrup, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
2. Stir in the cream until the mixture is smooth.
3. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and mix into a dough. Knead the dough by hand until it is elastic.
4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
5. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
6. Roll the dough out into thin sheets and cut out desired shapes for the house.
7. Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the pieces are golden brown. Allow to cool.
8. Decorate the cooled pieces with a powdered sugar-water mixture and other decorations. Assemble the pieces together and let it dry.
