Christmas Gingerbread Dough

Preparation Time: 2 hours (plus chilling time) Serving Size: Makes approximately 30 cookies
Ingredients:
- 200 g butter
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 dl syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 dl brown sugar
- 1 dl cream
- 8 dl all-purpose flour
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add sugar, syrup, and cream. Heat the mixture over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
2. Stir in the spices, salt, and baking soda. Mix well.
3. Remove the saucepan from heat and gradually add the all-purpose flour. Stir until a smooth dough forms.
4. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
5. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
6. Roll the dough out to about 5 mm thick and cut out gingerbread shapes with cookie cutters.
7. Transfer the cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown.
9. Allow to cool before decorating.
