Pork Belly Burgers with Red Cabbage Slaw
Pork Belly Burgers with Red Cabbage Slaw
recipe
Delicious pork belly burgers paired with a refreshing red cabbage slaw, creating the perfect flavor combination. Preparation Time: 12 hours (mostly marinating)
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 800 g pork belly
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 red cabbage
- 1 red onion
- 4 burger buns
- Hot sauce (to taste)
- Fresh cilantro
Instructions:
1. Cut the pork belly into manageable pieces and place them in a marinade. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, sugar, and salt, then pour the marinade over the meat. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
2. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F). Place the pork belly on a baking sheet with the skin side down. Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours until the meat is tender.
3. Flip the pork belly so that the skin side is facing up and roast for an additional 30 to 45 minutes until the skin is crispy.
4. Meanwhile, prepare the red cabbage slaw. Slice the red cabbage into thin strips and chop the red onion. Combine the ingredients in a bowl and add vinegar if desired.
5. Slice the roasted pork belly into generous pieces. Assemble the burgers: place a layer of red cabbage slaw on the bottom half of a bun, add slices of pork belly, and top with hot sauce and fresh cilantro if desired.
6. Serve and enjoy!
