Spiced Gingerbread Dough

This spiced gingerbread dough is perfect for making delicious holiday cookies that are sure to delight family and friends.
Ingredients:
- 1½ dl sugar
- 1 dl syrup
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- ½ tsp cloves
- 125 g margarine or butter
- 1 egg
- About 5 dl all-purpose flour
Instructions:
1. Melt the margarine or butter in a saucepan over low heat.
2. Add the sugar and syrup to the saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
3. Mix in the spices (cinnamon, ginger, cloves) and stir well.
4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
5. Add the egg and mix until smooth.
6. Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the dough until it is even and flexible.
7. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
8. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out cookies in your desired shapes.
9. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 10–12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.
10. Allow to cool before decorating or enjoying.
