This delicious cheese bread is a perfect accompaniment to soups or a tasty snack. It's easy to make and a great way to use up leftover cheese from the fridge.
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 3 dl warm water
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1 packet of dry yeast
- 1 tbsp flaxseed meal
- 1 dl grated Emmental cheese
- Approximately 7 dl flour
- 2 tbsp oil
- Additional grated Emmental cheese for topping
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and salt together.
2. Add the flaxseed meal and grated Emmental cheese to the mixture.
3. Gradually incorporate the flour into the dough while kneading, until the dough is soft but does not stick to your hands.
4. Add the oil and let the dough rise under a cloth for about 30 minutes.
5. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius (437 degrees Fahrenheit).
6. Punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a round loaf. Allow it to rise under a cloth for another 20 minutes.
7. Make slashes on the surface of the loaf with a sharp knife and brush cold water over the top.
8. Sprinkle more grated cheese on top and bake the loaf in the oven for 20-30 minutes.
9. The bread is ready when it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
