A delightful sauerkraut pie that combines savory and sweet flavors, perfect for pairing with good sausage and beer. An excellent choice for a sauna night treat!

Serving Size: 6-8 servings

Ingredients:

- 1 package ready-made pie crust
- 400 g sauerkraut
- 200 g ground meat (e.g., pork or beef)
- 1 onion
- 2 eggs
- 2 dl cream
- 1 dl grated cheese (e.g., Emmental or mozzarella)
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying

Instructions:

1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté chopped onion until soft.
2. Add ground meat to the pan and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Rinse the sauerkraut in cold water and squeeze out excess moisture. Mix the sauerkraut with the meat and onion.
4. Roll out the pie crust and line a pie dish with it.
5. Spread the sauerkraut mixture over the crust.
6. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and cream. Add the mustard and mix well.
7. Pour the egg mixture over the sauerkraut mixture.
8. Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the pie.
9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 30-35 minutes, until the top is beautifully golden brown.
10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
