A traditional Finnish dish that brings festive cheer with its delicious flavors. Preparation time is around 2 days, but active working time is just a few minutes. This recipe serves 4-6 people.
Ingredients:
- 500 g fresh trout
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 dl dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
1. Start by cleaning and filleting the trout. Remove the bones and skin.
2. Mix together the sugar, salt, and black pepper.
3. Place the trout fillets in a dish, skin side down, and evenly sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fillets.
4. Add the chopped dill, lemon juice, and olive oil on top of the fillets.
5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Let it cure for about 48 hours.
6. Slice the cured trout into thin pieces and serve on rye bread.
