Ingredients
- 1 package of ready-made puff pastry- 200 g dates
- 1 dl water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cardamom
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Powdered sugar (for decoration)
Instructions
1. Begin by making the date jam. Remove the pits from the dates and place them in a saucepan with water, cinnamon, cardamom, and lemon juice. Cook over low heat for about 10-15 minutes until the dates are soft and the mixture has thickened, stirring occasionally.2. Remove the date jam from the heat and let it cool slightly.
3. Roll out the puff pastry into a thin sheet and cut it into squares (approximately 10x10 cm).
4. Make cuts from the corners toward the center of each square, but do not cut all the way through.
5. Place about 1-2 teaspoons of date jam in the center of each square.
6. Fold the corners of the cuts over the date jam to form a filled pastry.
7. Brush the pastries with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Let the pastries cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
