A traditional Christmas drink that brings warmth and ambiance to cold winter evenings. Glögi is a favorite for many during the holiday season. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 liter red wine
- 2 dl water
- 2 dl sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 5–6 cardamom pods
- 3–4 whole cloves
- 1 orange (sliced)
- 1 dl raisins
- 1 dl toasted almond flakes
Instructions:
1. Pour the red wine and water into a large pot.
2. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves.
3. Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and orange slices.
4. Heat the mixture over low heat, but do not let it boil.
5. Allow the glögi to steep for about 20 minutes to blend the flavors.
6. Strain the glögi before serving to remove the spices and orange slices.
7. Serve the glögi hot, garnished with raisins and toasted almond flakes.
