Delicious brie and apple bites are the perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors. These melt-in-your-mouth treats are easy to make and a great way to use up leftover ingredients after the holidays.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 6 bites
Ingredients:
- 3 sheets of puff pastry
- 100 g brie cheese
- 1 - 2 tart apples
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 10 pecans or walnuts
Instructions:
1. Allow the puff pastry sheets to thaw at room temperature.
2. Core the apple and slice it into thin slices.
3. In a skillet, melt the butter, then add the maple syrup and cinnamon. Add the apple slices and sauté for about 3 minutes.
4. Cut the puff pastry sheets into squares. Slice the brie and place on each square. Top with a few apple slices from the skillet.
5. Crush the nuts and add them to the skillet, tossing quickly in the remaining syrup. Sprinkle the nuts over the squares. Drizzle any leftover syrup from the skillet over the squares.
6. Bake the squares in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15 - 20 minutes, until they are cooked through.
7. Enjoy with tea or mulled wine. If reheating, do so in the oven for a crispy result.
