Orange Cake (Appelsiinikakku)

A deliciously moist orange cake infused with fresh orange flavor. Perfect for dessert or a sweet snack. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 8-10 slices
Ingredients:
- Zest of 1 orange
- 2 dl sugar
- 200 g butter
- 3 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla powder
- 3 eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
For Soaking:
- 1 dl sugar
- 2 dl orange juice (or fresh juice)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy.
2. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, vanilla powder, and baking powder.
4. Sift the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture and mix until well combined.
5. Fold in the orange zest into the batter.
6. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
7. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
8. Carefully remove the cake from the pan once slightly cooled.
For Soaking:
1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and orange juice.
2. Heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
3. Soak the cooled cake with the syrup mixture.
