This delicious authentic vanilla sauce is perfect for sweet desserts like cakes and ice cream. Preparation time is about 30 minutes and the recipe serves approximately 4-6 portions.Ingredients:
- 2½ cups milk
- 75 g sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 2½ cups heavy cream
- 1 vanilla bean
Instructions:
1. Split the vanilla bean in half lengthwise, leaving a small section at one end intact. Scrape out the black seeds and set them aside.
2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream with the vanilla bean and its seeds. Do not let it boil.
3. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until light and creamy.
4. Gradually add the hot cream mixture to the egg yolk mixture while continuously stirring.
5. Transfer the mixture back to the saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Do not let it boil.
6. Strain the sauce into a bowl and let it cool before serving.
