A delightful date liqueur perfect for holiday gifts or personal enjoyment. This easy recipe gets better with time!
Preparation Time: About 1 month + aging
Serving Size: Approximately 1 liter
Ingredients:
- 200 g dried dates
- 200 ml water (for soaking)
- 100 ml vodka
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 200 g cane sugar
- 50 ml water (for syrup)
Instructions:
1. Soak the dried dates in 200 ml of water for a few hours until softened.
2. Remove the pits from the dates and blend them with the soaking water until smooth.
3. Mix the date puree with vodka and vanilla sugar. Pour the mixture into a clean bottle and let it develop.
4. After about a month, prepare the syrup by boiling cane sugar with 50 ml of water until dissolved. Allow it to cool.
5. Add the cooled syrup to the date mixture in the bottle and let the liqueur mature for a few more weeks.
6. Strain the liqueur through a fine sieve and taste. Add more sugar if desired for sweetness.
7. Pour the finished liqueur into a decorative bottle and enjoy!
