Serving Size: About 12 croissants
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 10 g salt
- 40 g sugar
- 10 g dry yeast
- 300 ml milk
- 40 g butter (melted)
- 250 g cold butter (for laminating dough)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, and sugar.
2. Dissolve the dry yeast in warm milk and add it to the flour mixture.
3. Add the melted butter and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
4. Roll the dough out into a rectangle and place the cold butter in the center. Fold the dough over the butter to form a triangle.
5. Roll the dough out again into a rectangle and fold it into thirds. Repeat this process two more times to create layers.
6. Cover the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
7. Roll the dough out to about 5 mm thick and cut it into triangles.
8. Roll the triangles tightly into croissants and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
9. Allow the croissants to rise for another 1-2 hours.
10. Brush the croissants with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C (392 °F) for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
