Delicious Finnish curd doughnuts, perfect for dessert or a snack. Preparation time is about 1 hour and the recipe makes approximately 15 doughnuts.Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 3-4 dl sugar
- 1 can plain curd (rahka)
- 1 liter canola oil for frying
- 1 egg
- 3 teaspoons cardamom
- 7-10 dl flour
- 100 g butter or margarine
- 5 dl milk
- 25 g yeast
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the yeast in warm milk and add sugar, salt, and cardamom.
2. Gradually add flour while mixing in the curd and egg into the dough.
3. Incorporate melted butter or margarine into the dough and knead until smooth.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
5. Heat canola oil in a pot.
6. Shape the dough into balls and deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
7. Transfer the doughnuts to paper towels to absorb excess oil.
8. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
