A delicious Finnish beef stew that takes you on a flavor journey to grandma's kitchen. Best served with potatoes and rye bread. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 4-6 people
Ingredients:
- 800 g beef (such as chuck or roast)- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 large onion
- 3-4 carrots
- 4 potatoes
- 1 liter beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika powder
- Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley) for garnish
Instructions:
1. Cut the beef into cubes and slice the onion and carrots.2. Heat the butter in a large pot and brown the beef cubes well.
3. Add the onion and carrots to the pot, and sauté for a moment.
4. Pour the beef broth into the pot and add the bay leaves, salt, black pepper, and paprika powder.
5. Let the stew simmer on low heat for about 1.5 hours, until the beef is tender.
6. Peel and chop the potatoes. Add them to the pot about 30 minutes before serving.
7. Serve the tirripaisti hot with rye bread and boiled potatoes, garnished with fresh herbs.
