Osso Buco Pata

A Milanese-style osso buco stew cooked with beer and tomato sauce. A perfect winter dish that warms both the heart and body. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 4 pieces of veal shanks - 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 400 g canned tomatoes
- 2 dl beer
- 2 dl beef broth
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sear the veal shanks on both sides, then remove them from the pot.2. Add the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery to the pot. Sauté the vegetables for about 5 minutes until they soften.
3. Stir in the canned tomatoes, beer, and beef broth. Mix well.
4. Return the seared shanks back to the pot. Add the bay leaf, thyme, salt, black pepper, and sugar.
5. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer on low heat for about 1.5 hours, until the meat is tender.
6. Serve with fresh parsley sprinkled on top.
