A delicious and nutritious bread that combines soft dough with sweet applesauce. Perfect as a side dish or a snack. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 2 loaves
Ingredients
- 2.5 dl buttermilk - 50 g yeast
- 1 egg or syrup water for brushing
- 1-2 tsp salt
- 5 dl unsweetened applesauce or finely grated apples
- 1-2 tsp cumin
- 5 dl bread wheat flour
- 7 dl rye flour
Instructions
1. Warm the buttermilk and applesauce until lukewarm. 2. Dissolve the yeast and salt into the mixture.
3. Add the flours and knead the dough until elastic.
4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough to remove air bubbles and shape it into two loaves.
6. Place the loaves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
7. Brush the loaves with egg or syrup water.
8. Allow the loaves to rise again for about 30 minutes.
9. Bake at 200°C (392°F) for about 30-35 minutes, until the loaves are beautifully golden brown.
